Inquiry # 2..Favorite movies and John Coltrane

Welcome fellow Bloggers. On Dec. 15...I posted two blogs; one concerning your favorite movies and the second question concerned your opinions regarding John Coltrane as a saxaphone player. I have received a few E-Mails in regard to John Coltrane, but nothing in great detail. Even more surprising is the lack of response to the querry in regard to your favorite movies. This I find rather puzzling and am rather dismayed to contemplate the fact that there may be more sports fans out there in cyberspace than music fans, particularly Jazz fans. The same concern is directed at the so called movie buffs that exit, or am I sadly mistaken on both counts. You can prove me wrong, by offering your opinions on my blogs. It's a sad state of affairs if the response remains minimal. DrJaz

Favorite Movies

I am curious to see what my fellow Bloggers opinions are concerning their movie favorites. Mine happens to be " The Best Years Of Our Lives " starring Fredric March, Myrna Loy, Dana Andrews, Harold Russell, Hoagy Carmichael, Virginia Mayo and others. Many people that I have recommended this film to say that nothing happens, which is absolutely untrue. The fact that there are no car chases, no profanity, no nudity and no digital effects and graphics throws todays audience askew. This film, produced in 1944 won 7 Oscars, including Best Picture. A remarkable study of veterans returning from the rigors of World War 11 and the subsequent adjustment back into civilian life. I welcome any comments regarding this film as well as your own personal favorite, or favorites ...DR JAZ

John Coltrane musical querry

I have been a John Coltrane fan since 1955, and am curious to get the opinion of other people about this great saxaphone player. Over the past 40 plus years I have accumulated 106 John Coltrane CD'S of various imports, underground recordings, etc. I am curious to know what your favorite songs or periods might be. Any comments about Trane' or any of your favorites are welcome. Do you prefer the classic quartet with Jimmy Garrison, Elvin Jones, McCoy Tyner, or is the new group including Rashied Ali, Pharoah Sanders more to your fancy ? Have you experinced the version of " A Love Supreme " that also includes Archie Shepp ?
